A U.S. official on Thursday said Syria had made some preparations to transport the final 7.5% of its lethal chemicals out of t
he country, but that its actions remained far short of what was necessary. Robert Mikulak, the U.S. representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, said Syria had moved some packing materials to the site where the last of the chemicals are being stored, and that it had destroyed a batch of isopropyl alcohol there as required.
